-Revenge-

My first try in a long time at pencil drawing. It has been over 15 years. This sketch took about 6 hours. I used a regular number 2 pencil, red crayola pencil, black crayola pencil, and a black pen.

"Looking back at a conquered city, the soldier must press on."

(I will let the viewer decide who and what he is doing and where he is must go.)

I have been having this itch to draw something in pencil. The urge became so great that I just had to give in. Believe it or not. This is the first attempt at pencil drawing that I have made since I was a child. The last pencil sketch that I can remember completing was around the age of 14. Trust me when I say that my methods were far more rudimentary than this present day sketch of a medieval knight.

The thing that I find fascinating with artists and with the human body in general is that ones creative ability continues to develop and mature through everyday life. In the case of an artist, or a gifted individual, the artistic section of the brain continues to subconsciously gather information for further self development. An artist does not need to stay with a specific medium and focus on the use of it in order to excel with it. With each type of medium that an artist attempts to become proficient with, he will in turn, develop in other areas as well.

This sketch is a perfect example of that. I have not needed to nurture the use of pencil in order for my ability with it to develop. Keep in mind that if I had focused on this one medium entirely, my skill level would develop at a more rapid rate. Then again, my other abilities would begin to suffer and fall by the wayside.

I believe that by nurturing various forms of expression, your overall skill level will develop at a more consistent rate across the board. By breaking up the time that I spend working with each method, I can ensure that no forms are neglected and that they all seem to have enough stimuli to continue to develop consistently and evenly. In turn creating a well rounded understanding of process, and process my friends is the most important attribute you can ever hope to develop.

'Good use of values, I dig all the fine detail and the concept behind it.
